MESCİOĞLU’S MARK ON THE RAILWAY NETWORKS OF THE FUTURE: A JOURNEY OF OVER 1,800 KM IN ENGINEERING, DESIGN AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

With more than 42 years of comprehensive engineering expertise and project experience exceeding 1,800 kilometres of railway, Mescioğlu Engineering and Consultancy continues to build the reliable and sustainable infrastructure of the railway sector—from high-precision mapping to detailed engineering designs, from construction supervision to digital asset management. We take pride in engaging with the global railway ecosystem through our extensive project portfolio, spanning international transport corridors to national high-speed rail networks.

As Mescioğlu, we stand out with our technical capacity to carry out, under a single roof, the processes of surveying, mapping, geospatial data acquisition, project design, structural works design (tunnels and viaducts) and engineering consultancy in the railway sector. We have delivered numerous national and international projects over many years in the critical components of railway projects, including high-precision geospatial data production, route selection, hydrological and hydraulic analyses, structural works design, geotechnical and geological surveys, as-built documentation and consultancy services.

Furthermore, our multidisciplinary team, which closely follows technological developments, integrates advanced surveying technologies such as mobile mapping, LiDAR, photogrammetry and digital modelling into projects, thereby developing safe, sustainable and cost-effective solutions for railway investments. Thanks to this approach, Mescioğlu has become one of the engineering firms confidently preferred by stakeholders in railway and transport infrastructure projects.

1. Strategic Global Partnership: Development Road Project (Iraq)

Within the scope of the Development Road Project (Grand Faw Port – Türkiye Border Railway and Highway Corridor), which will connect the Middle East and Europe and shape the future of regional trade and logistics, the detailed engineering design services we have undertaken together with BTP Infrastrutture symbolise our company’s international prestige and technical strength.

On this strategic and multimodal corridor of 1,200 kilometres extending from the Persian Gulf to the Turkish border, as Mescioğlu we have completed the following in accordance with international standards:

  • Detailed structural designs of 59 viaducts;
  • Geotechnical, excavation and support, ventilation and infrastructure designs for 18 twin-tube and 18 single-tube railway tunnels;
  • Hydraulic and structural analyses, together with tender and construction-stage implementation documents ready for the construction phase, for hundreds of underpasses, culverts and other structural works along the alignment.

Our role as a solution partner in this strategically significant project of global scale is the most concrete demonstration of our engineering competence in large-scale infrastructure initiatives worldwide.

2. Digital Transformation in Railways: High-Precision Mapping and Mobile LiDAR Services

Our Geospatial (Mapping and Information Technologies) Department is redefining industry standards in the digitalisation of railway corridors, inventory analysis and infrastructure management processes. Through projects implemented within Turkish State Railways (TCDD), we are creating the digital twin and base maps of our railway networks:

  • TCDD 5th Regional Directorate Railway Network Map Production (1,045 km): Establishment of geodetic control networks, aerial photogrammetry, photogrammetric triangulation, high-resolution topographic maps, Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and the installation of an inventory information system have been successfully completed along the 1,045 km railway line.
  • TCDD 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th Regional Directorates Mobile LiDAR Inventory and Mapping (4,500 km): Thanks to our newly acquired Aerial, Terrestrial and Mobile LiDAR scanning technologies, we collect high-density 3D point cloud data along railway lines. Our LiDAR technology enables sub-centimetre precision measurement of tracks, catenary systems, tunnels, bridges, signalling elements and station structures; integration of inventories into Intelligent Asset Management Systems (GIS/CAD); and clearance (gauge) analyses on the track.

Guiding digital transformation in railway infrastructure, Mescioğlu continues to shape maintenance, repair and rehabilitation projects through its LiDAR solutions.

3. Strong Experience on Türkiye’s High-Speed and Conventional Lines (800+ km)

Within the modernisation and expansion of our national railway network, we are shaping Türkiye’s transport future with high-speed rail (HSR) and conventional line projects exceeding a total of 800 km— both completed and currently ongoing:

  • Eskişehir – Ankara High-Speed Rail Line Construction Consultancy (250 km+): As one of Türkiye’s first high-speed rail projects, the Eskişehir–Ankara High-Speed Rail line marked a milestone in the country’s transition to HSR technology. Mescioğlu undertook Türkiye’s first construction consultancy service for a high-speed rail project, playing a pioneering role in the introduction of high-speed rail technology and the development of high-standard railway infrastructure.
  • Şanlıurfa – Mardin High-Speed Rail Line (180 km): All engineering and survey and design services for the 180 km HSR line—including route selection, 12 viaducts (among them a 600-metre balanced cantilever viaduct), 18 bridges, a 1.3 km cut-and-cover tunnel, electrification, signalling, telecommunications, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and feasibility processes—have been successfully delivered.
  • Siirt – Kurtalan Railway Line (34 km – Conventional Line): On this 34 km conventional railway project strengthening regional connectivity, all infrastructure and superstructure detailed design projects—including 6 NATM tunnels exceeding a total length of 15 km, 3 cut-and-cover tunnels, viaduct and station designs—have been completed in full.
  • Erzurum – Kars High-Speed Rail Line (205 km – Ongoing): Under challenging geographical and climatic conditions, we are meticulously carrying out the processes of survey, route optimisation and detailed design for the infrastructure, superstructure and electromechanical systems (electrification, signalling, telecommunications) of the 205 km HSR line.
  • Malatya – Elazığ High-Speed Rail Line (121 km – Ongoing): On this 121 km HSR line, one of the main transport arteries of Eastern Anatolia, seismic risk and topography analyses, structural works, station designs and electromechanical integration projects are being carried out by our company.
  • İzzettin – Çerikli Connection Corridor (27 km – Ongoing): Our topographic, geotechnical, hydraulic and infrastructure engineering services are currently being carried out on this connection corridor that ensures the integration of the transport network.
